PIER-EMR Integration
- PIER is structured to facilitate integration of specific elements into electronic medical records, order entry systems, or pharmacology databases.
- PIER source files are in XML, ensuring their ability to be integrated into virtually any EMR or electronic medical resource.
- PIER uses infobutton technology and order sets to integrate its content into EMRs:
- Infobutton technology allows linking between elements of the EMR to specific PIER content
- Evidence-based order sets are derived from PIER modules and link back to supporting information in the text
- Use of PIER in conjunction with EMRs can be tracked to measure performance and document real-time, clinically relevant, continuing medical education
