- When they suffer traumatic injuries that require inpatient care or are suffering from a medical condition that warrants inpatient management
- Who are in danger of retaliation from the suspected perpetrator and whose safety cannot be assured with other options
- Under an assumed name in accordance with general safe practice for victims of violent crime who require medical attention
